Non-mandatory prices for outpatient activity

The NHS Long Term Plan sets out clear objectives for outpatient policy to reduce the total number of outpatient appointments and to make it much easier for patients to access these appointments from their homes or another convenient location.

As part of the 2019/20 National Tariff Payment System (19/20 NTPS) we published non-mandatory prices for advice and guidance (A&G) services, and for non-face-to-face and non-consultant-led outpatient activity. These are intended to help manage demand for secondary acute services by enabling referrers to make better and more informed decisions on the most appropriate course of action for their patients, as well encouraging the increased use of non-face-to-face outpatient appointments and the wider adoption of relevant technology.

These prices are designed to support the objectives of the long term plan and as part of the process of developing future national tariffs we are asking for your feedback on these non-mandatory prices, how useful they are and how we can improve them.

The feedback that you give will feed directly into the development of pricing policy in the future which is being designed to support the delivery of the long term plan.

We appreciate your time in completing this survey.
