Overview

Dear Colleagues

Welcome to the Getting It Right First Time (GIRFT) Spinal Emergency Service Questionniare.

In the National GIRFT Report for spinal services, recommedation number 3 is as follows:

'' Trust to follow SBNS and BASS guidance on the management of patients with suspected cauda equina syndrome, including urgent referral by a senior decision maker to a 24-hour MRI scanning service performed locally in the hospital of presentation, ensuring no delay. Radiologists must prioritise these patients in light of the syndrome's severity and the time critical nature off effective treatment.''

In light of the above recommendation, we would appreciate the following data from your spinal unit. Please complete the questions and data as applicable to your unit in the following questionnaire.

We would be grateful for your input on this so we can understand nationally issues in emergency MRI scanning provision.

Thank you

Mike Hutton
